Sean 'STYX' Nunan

My name is Sean 'STYX' Nunan, a professional drummer with a career spanning over 27 years in the music industry. I am currently based in Cape Town South Africa, and have been fortunate to perform with various well known South African bands, artists and touring shows both locally and internationally.

I am a South African Roland V DRUMS AMBASSADOR and I have always been a technology 'JUNKIE'. Since my introduction to the drum kit in 1988 I have always played a fully electronic kit or incorporated a 'HYBRID' electronic solution into my playing set up. From the early days of Simmons and Dynacord pads to the 1st Roland Electronic kits and V DRUM Kits I have used them all including the ROLAND TD-4 TD-6 TD 10-TD-9 TD-12 and TD- 30 and as of May 2017 I play the Flagship TD-50. Fortunate to be the first drummer in South Africa to get the TD-50 Digital Pack

In the last 8 Years my musical situation has changed to the point where I 99% percent of the time perform exclusively on Roland V - DRUMS with my two bands ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS DUO and ALMOST FAMOUS BAND

I PERFORM OVER 200 GIGS PER YEAR USING THE ROLAND FLAGSHIP TD-50 Digital Pack which include the new TD-50 Module, PD-140DS Digital Snare and CY-18DR Digital Ride Cymbal incorporating the SPD sx SAMPLER into my set up as well.

Sean started drumming at the age of 17 and turned professional in 1988 with a band called Shout! Shout was a 5-piece pop / rock original outfit that mainly played at major festivals and varsity campus gigs around the country. The band released an EP called Guns & Games and three singles namely 'Don't Dance' ‘Where did the Feeling Go’ and 'Reaching Out' had chart success on SA's 5fm. The band also appeared on SABC's popular music video show 'Fast Forward'. The highlight of the bands three years together was a 6-week national tour of South Africa together with the Celtic Rumours and the Psycho Reptiles.

After Shout split up at the end of 1990 Sean joined a cover band called ShyMoon. A couple of month's later Sean and guitarist Kevin Reed were approached by Brian O Shea (Musketeer Records) to join Shifty Henry. Sean spent 3 very successful years with Shifty Henry, touring both locally and internationally, gigging on average 5 nights per week and enjoyed major chart successes as well as widespread radio and television coverage in the form of music videos interviews and personal appearances.

When Shifty Henry finally parted ways, Sean and Kevin formed the ever-popular Johannesburg cover band 'Avalanche'. Sean spent 5 years as drummer for the band before moving to Cape Town in 2000 to concentrate on teaching and fulfill his passion to become a better all round drummer.

In 1997 Sean also performed in a show called 'Disco Inferno' which was a tribute to the seventies disco era featuring Samantha Peo (Chicago), Neil Paich and Helen Du Boir. After a successful season, which took the show around the country as well as to Namibia and Botswana, Sean re-united with Craig Parsons from Shy Moon in another cover band called 'Scandal'.

CAPE TOWN 2000 - To Present

2002 saw Sean joining the original 'chick rock" band Natti Simonne and played with them for 3 years in and around Cape Town, before forming his own corporate cover show band Almost Famous in 2006.

is a funky, dynamic and extremely well-polished professional 5-piece outfit from Cape Town. Our diverse and well thought out repertoire is well suited to all ages and occasions. The bands motto ‘Let Us Entertain You’ is evident when you watch and ‘party’ with this fun loving and energetic act.

Lisa 'MYNX' Hugo

I started my singing career at the tender age of 15 working full time at Sun City International performing at various venues at Sun City. I performed at the Cabanas, Calabash, Main Hotel, Cascades and the Palace for 4 years under Karen Kutts. After finished my contract I left for Johannesburg where I formed the successful band Fishbowl. For 13 years I traveled with Calla Henn my guitarist performing at many venues and shows. I also performed at Carnival City, Emperors Palace and Monte Casino. I moved back to Cape Town after a long run in Johannesburg to further the Fishbowl Empire. There I performed at Quay 4, CTICC, Diaz Tavern, Mercury and Dubliner Cape Town for 5 years with various bands. Fishbowl performed at the Wacky Wine at Arabella for 6 years helping to build the Wine Festival to what it is today.

After my long run with Fishbowl I decided to part ways and do some free-lance singing with various musicians. I performed with many well-known musicians and singers. I have also performed at the KKnK. I teamed up with Helene Henn to form the band Disciples Journey in which we performed at the V n A Waterfront Amphitheater and various venues and weddings. I was called up by my long-time friend Tauna (Fire) from Axe on Fire to join in their dynamic group Almost Famous and performed together at various venues. On the side lines Sean (Styx) from Fire and Styx and Almost Famous asked me to join him in a duo called The Absolutely Fabulous Duo performing with drum, backing tracks and vocals for any occasion!

I’m still going strong and passionate about what I do and always give my all in what I do because without music life would be so dull!
